"Horse Tails by Appaloosa Duke", is a horse story about bullying. Duke tells of his
own life having to deal with stress and sadness at being bullied and teased from the time he was a foal in Idaho to being trained
as a trail horse in Wyoming. Other horses could never see beyond his unusual dotted, spotted coat pattern and treated him harshly.
Many thanks to Milton Decker, owner of Decker's Red Eagle Appaloosas, for the use of his photographs, and for his vast knowledge of Appaloosa
traits, characteristics and history.

On April 2, 2014, the author read "Horse Tails by Appaloosa Duke" to
Grade 5 students at
the Hebron Station School.
These are some of their comments taken from letters written to her afterwards:
- "Your book inspired me not to be a bully and to stand up to bullying."
- "I liked how the author's message was bullying and I bet that it reached out to a lot of kids."
- "Your book was very detailed. We could see what was happening in our minds."
- "Showing bullying through a horse is really interesting." ". . . be a buddy not a bully."
- "I get why the horses made fun of Duke, (but) I think that Duke was very pretty."
- "I loved the author's message that you shouldn't bully someone just because they look different."
- "It would be bad if the whole world bullied. Thank you for reading about (horses) bullying."

"Horse Tails by Shiloh ...Enters a Horse Show ...Goes Camping", is a two-'tail' book about Shiloh, a small Arabian
horse owned by the author, whose specialty HAD been Endurance and Competitive Trail Riding. Now, he has been entered in a horse show.
Written from Shiloh's perspective, first he gets accustomed to training in an arena in both English and Western riding tack, then it's show time. The training
he goes through, along with his experience at the show, will aid and inform young riders how to prepare and compete in a horse show.
Shiloh then goes camping and exploring in the mountains on a 3-day packtrip.

appreciation everyday for being rescued and given a second chance at life.
Photographs throughout the book of Fred and his many human friends attest to the enjoyment he brought
